2.1 Automatically Collected Information

When you use our services, we automatically collect the following information:

Technical Information:

• IP Address: We collect your IP address but immediately anonymize it by:
  • Hashing the first three octets using SHA-256 (one-way encryption)
  • Replacing the last octet with "xxx" (e.g., "192.168.1.xxx")
  • We do NOT store your complete IP address

Geographic Information:

• Country code (e.g., "US", "GB")
• Region/State
• City (approximate location based on IP)
• Internet Service Provider (ISP)

Usage Information:

• Timestamp of your request
• Type of content submitted (text, URL, or file)
• Content length (character count)
• Summary type requested (brief, detailed, bullets, or custom length)
• Requested summary length (word count)
• Processing time (milliseconds)
• Success or failure status
• Error messages (if any, sanitized to remove sensitive data)

2.2 Content Information

By using our services, you agree that we may store and process:

• Submitted text content and generated summaries (stored in encrypted form where applicable)
• Encryption uses AES-256 standard where full content is stored
• Content and summaries may be retained as described in Data Retention (Section 4)

2.3 What We Store Instead of Full Content

To provide analytics and improve our service, we store:

• Content Hash: SHA-256 hash of your content (for deduplication, cannot be reversed)
• Content Preview: First 100 characters only (for debugging purposes)
• Content Length: Number of characters
• Response Hash: SHA-256 hash of the generated summary
• Response Length: Number of characters in summary

These hashes cannot be used to reconstruct your original content.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

• Service Provision: To process your summarization requests and generate AI-powered summaries
• Analytics & Improvement: To understand usage patterns (aggregated, anonymized) and improve our services
• Security & Abuse Prevention: To detect and prevent abuse, enforce rate limiting, and protect our services
• Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws and regulations

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL database) with encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. We implement IP anonymization, AES-256 encryption for sensitive data, access controls, and Row-Level Security policies.

Data Retention

• Request Metadata: 90 days (anonymized IP, timestamps, usage data)
• Content Cache: 30 days (encrypted content and summaries)
• Analytics Aggregates: 2 years (fully anonymized, no personal data)
• Security Events: 1 year (for abuse prevention)

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Google Generative AI (Gemini): For AI summarization
• Supabase: For database hosting
• ipwho.is: For IP geolocation

6. Your Rights (GDPR & Privacy Rights)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or other jurisdictions with privacy laws, you have the following rights:

• Right to Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your data
• Right to Data Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format
